Most of you know that my 6yr old is picky and though you’d THINK he’d like all cookies, the only ones he’s eating right now are chocolate chip and snickerdoodles! Most of you probably have this recipe for cinnamon-sugar cookies (that have been around for hundreds of years) but a girlfriend of mine Keri (who is a GENIUS in the kitchen) made these for a baseball picnic and they were so good….plus the 6yr old LOVED them! These would also be perfect for a cookie exchange since they’re so easy. Don’t they make your mouth water?

Timeless Snickerdoodles

  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 TBS ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Heat over to 400*. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and the cinnamon; reserve. Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, the shortening, margarine and eggs in a large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.

Shape dough into 1 1/4″ balls. Roll in sugar mixture to coat. Place about 2″ apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until center is almost set. Remove from sheet- makes about 4 dozen cookies.
