As we like to joke over here, we’re called The “Hungry” Housewives for a reason…and it’s not because we’re gourmet chefs! So because of that, we were very excited to be working with the Satko Family from Satko’s Real Food who hosted a giveaway for us (contest is now over). Chef John is VERY knowledgeable, and I’ve enjoyed getting to know his daughter Jonni who is awesome!

Who/What IS Satko’s Real Food?

From a very young age, John Satko gained a distinct passion for culinary arts and knew he wanted to be a chef. He spent many hours in the kitchen with his grandma Mollie learning to make meals from scratch and cooking with seasonal vegetables from her garden. Her influence encouraged him to seek experience beyond his roots in Seattle, by traveling around the world to learn how regional cultures in the United States, France, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand and Caribbean Islands prepared their food. By traveling and living in different parts of the world while learning foreign cuisine, Chef John was able to not only learn the local dishes, but the history and culture that inspires the food as well. He has also been recognized as a Certified Executive Chef by the ACF.

In 2005, Chef John with his wife, Shelby, developed a line of spices bringing the experience of our international culinary experience to kitchens across the Seattle area. Each is unique in its history and creation but intended for first timers or experienced kitchen masters!

Chef John’s personal portfolio is both impressive and extensive. His skills reach far beyond cooking which include but are not limited to: ice and food sculpting, commercial and residential kitchen design, private events, catering, restaurant consulting, private chef (in-home, boat charters, etc.) and more!

Satko’s Real Food also offers various unique and entertaining cooking classes (see the Sushi Class The Hungry Housewives attended HERE). Chef John along with his daughter and host, Jonni, teach you exciting new recipes, techniques, the science and history of real food, all the while ensuring you have a great time and enjoy fantastic tasting food. Here, Chef John is able to share stories of his travels with you and teach you how to impress your friends and family with new cooking skills!

    Making the asian pork sounds amazing. We love to put lemon pepper on our steaks so I’d like to give a more natural seasoning a try. All 4 spices sound great.
